This site started out as a response to the 2000 census and our refusal to categorize our multi-racial and multi-cultural family by one of the census categories. We insisted on American Mix as our racial identity. I do not know what the census auditors finally put down but twice they sent out census auditors to interview us.

The Flag of One People started out as an attempt to respond to the census and then it just grew. The incorporation of Columbus Day into a National Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation came from readings on the American Holocaust. The American Holocaust is the history of the devastation of the native peoples over the past five hundred years beginning with the arrival of Columbus.

With the exception of the National Archives the web sites included in these pages are only representative of the richness and controversy of the history of our country and our people. Serious interest in any of these topics, the American Holocaust, the Black Wall Street or Tulsa riot of 1921, Wounded Knee and the Trail of Tears would require examination of a number of sources and comparisons of that information. For example, a quick examination on the web would place the number of deaths of blacks during the Tulsa riot of 1921 at between 26 and 3,000. 26 is the official number posted in 1921, 300 is the estimate from the Tulsa Race Riot Commission report in 2001 and 3,000 is the estimate from the black community that suffered catastrophic losses in the riot.
